EFL-Era Winter Signings: Is James Collins The Best We’ve Made?

The Best – Ethan Erhahon

In truth, we can’t argue coherently about Collins and Joe Taylor. They’ve had about the same impact, and of course, you can’t make it just about goals and assists. Taylor sparked our attack into life and gave us an option of playing another way; Collins rounded off an approach we already took, with crosses and loading the box. John Marquis gave the whole club a lift with his goals, and he helped build a bridge by applauding fans during perhaps the most disconnected season of all in the EFL-era.

One thing you can’t argue with is quality, and that’s where Erhahon comes in. He’s almost the complete package. Scully and Edun run him close, coming in for a low fee, contributing on the field to a play-off push, appearing in a final, and moving on for big sums. However, the sum we’re talking about for Erhahon is big, and if he doesn’t leave and runs his contract down, he’ll go past 200 appearances for the club.

Either way, in my eyes, that makes him our best EFL-era winter signing.
