Three Former Imps Available For Loan This January

Here’s another Imp all primed for a move this winter – Blackburn have made Tayo Edun available for loan, along with a number of other players.

Tayo joined the Imps in Michael Appleton’s first window from Fulham, having previously spent time on loan with Ipswich. The Under 17 European Championship winner had a steady start to his City career – he was sent off just a couple of games in against Gillingham, and played just six matches before the early curtailment of the campaign.

The following season he took a while to get going, but by the time we got to Wembley for the play-off final, he was cemented as one of our key players. With his deal due to run out at the end of the 2021/22 season, he was always going to be looking to move up, and sadly as we failed to get promoted, it meant he was hot property. In total, he played 54 games in the season that saw us host Liverpool, reach the EFL Trophy semi-final, and make the play-off final.

Just a few games into the following season, he was sold, Blackburn paying a reported £550,000 for him. Sadly, it meant Lincoln fans were only in the ground for six of his starts for City, with a partial crowd in for one other, the Sunderland play-off semi-final.

Could he make a return? It seems unlikely – any move would likely be either with a view to buying (and I doubt we’d spend that big) or with a view to him returning to Blackburn. Honestly, I’d love Tayo back but left back, and centre midfield are two areas I don’t think we need to strengthen.
