Tyler Walker

You bet that Tyler Walker is on the list. He’s reportedly been told he can leave Coventry City, with League One and League Two clubs on high alert. It’s not the first time Tyler has been linked with the Imps, nor the second, and not even the third!
He was first on our radar in the title-winning season. He had, I’m told, spoken to us and was keen on a move, until Mansfield dropped money from up high, and he went there on loan instead, with us signing John Akinde. After a season where he scored 26 times, once against City, we were linked again. This time, we got our man, and he bagged 16 in 27 starts in all competitions. Forest recalled him, loaning us Liam Bridcutt instead, and he returned there to score in a game against Leeds.
He then moved to Coventry City, in a deal thought to be worth £800,000, and has had a wretched time. He scored eight in 33 in his first season, then just one last campaign. It was last January he was loaned to Portsmouth but was linked with City. An insider at the club told me we were in for him as well, but it came down to either him or John Marquis, and the Marquis deal wasn’t a loan, so we didn’t tie up a loan spot with Walker. He went to Fratton Park, had a miserable time and scored just once.
In the summer, he was allegedly spotted at a Lincoln game, although it seems like a wild rumour. His time at Coventry has been tough, he hasn’t scored again, and he’s now available for transfer. Here’s the thing – he’s still only 26!
Could he be the centre-forward fans crave? There’s no doubt if he were to sign, it would be a big deal for supporters, even if he hasn’t been prolific since leaving the club in January 2020.
