MK Dons 0-2 Lincoln – April 6th 2019

You might have thought getting the League Two trophy would be up there, or securing promotion, but for me the highlight of last season was this game. We all saw it on the calendar and thought it was a promotion six pointer, I’m not sure any of us felt we’d effectively secure the title here though. It was a typical Lincoln performance, get a goal, defend well and then hit on the break in the dying stages. The game didn’t matter, not hugely; the result did.
Everyone who helped us out-sing and almost out-number the home fans knew this was the day the title was won. As we filtered out of the ground it felt like the biggest win of the season, as well as being the last win of the season. I could handle the disappointment that followed if I’m honest; this game was worth it.
It capped off a decade of wonderful memories, some I’ve shared here and others that I don’t have space, time or inclination to go into. What I will say is this; in the last ten years I’ve made more friends through football than I ever imagined, I’ve achieved things I never though I’d achieve and been to the sorts of places I’d only ever dreamed possible. All of it, every award nomination, every big away day, everything, is because of Lincoln City Football Club.
Here’s to another decade, whatever highs and lows it may bring.
