I don’t care what you think about that trophy, we won it. This has to be a memorable occasion because it inspired so many supporters. We are never going to the final of the FA Cup or the League Cup, but this one we did get to and we bloody deserved it.

I loved my trip to London, meeting up with the NZ Imps for a meal, drinking with fellow fans, getting my face painted and all of that. It was an occasion, one that you don’t get often and although I didn’t go with any aspirations of actually winning, we came away with another trophy and another memory.

I felt cheated in 2003 and 2005. Both times we could have shaken that ‘never played at Wembley’ tag but because of the relocation of the stadium we were stuck in Cardiff, a great venue in its own right, but not Wembley. Wembley has a certain power, just the name lends itself to history and nostalgia. The new Wembley might not quite have the mystique, but it was still a huge occasion to go there.
