I may as well get it out there, after all everyone seems to be floating the idea that the £1.5m front man is somehow going to be allowed to leave the Robins on loan to get some match experience.
He’s been injured at Ashton Gate and that put his career on hold, but now he’s fit he can’t catch a break in Lee Johnson’s side. there’s talk he’ll be allowed to leave on loan in the winter window, but even if that was true, surely League One would be a suitable destination?
Let’s assume, just for a minute, he was coming back into League Two, we would be a good fit. Danny has a good relationship with Bristol City, we’ve trained there a couple of times, plus we’re flying high which would suit their needs for the player. He’d have to play though and I wonder if he’s be too similar to Matt Green to command a place alongside John Akinde.
it’s interesting, but as far as I see it is a long shot.
The obvious question is do we actually need a like for like replacement for Matt Green? There are several variations but the key attribute must be the potential to play at Div 1 Level or else what is the point other than a stop gap till the summer.
