No Thanks: Last Season
Fate dealt us a bit of a blow last season, not being at home on the opening day. A return to the Football League at Sincil Bank would have been quite an occasion, instead we travelled to Wycombe.
Still, we had the comfort of knowing the first side we’d face at home would be Morecambe, relegation fodder and certain to roll over as we enjoyed a party at the Bank.
Or not.
What we got was a quick lesson in underestimating teams who were tipped for the drop. They were resolute and determined, with Barry Roche in outstanding form in the sticks. We had 26 shots, 10 on target and still the final score was 1-1.
Later in the season, as we hunted points for an unlikely automatic promotion place, we were held 0-0 at their place, again unable to break down a strong and organised side.

Shrimps rather than Shrimpers I believe (as per their programme). The Shrimpers are Southend.
