Thank You For: Adam Marriott

I know, three players to thank them for. It could have been more, Rob Burch spent time there on loan and they loaned us Richie Hanlon who bagged a stunner at Boston during his short Imps’ stay. Anyway, I wanted to include Marriott so they get three thanks.
What wasn’t to like about Marriott? Okay, his pace, but other than that? He was a footballer, a man who thought about the game and created naturally. He turned some key National League fixtures for us, not least Tranmere at home in December 2016 and Torquay Good Friday 2017. The sight of him retrieving the ball from the net after our late equaliser, only to do the same but boot it into the stands when we grabbed the winner will always be with me.
What’s that? Some pass against Ipswich? Sorry, don’t remember it.
None of which would have been possible if he hadn’t left Broadhall Way to come to us. He’d had an injury nightmare, but he shouldn’t have been available to a National league club. Top talent who could have been so much better, but for the injuries.
