Stevenage: The Thank You Article

Thank You For: Jordan Burrow

Former Chesterfield trainee Jordan Burrow signed for City from Stevenage in 2014 as part of Gary Simpson’s recruitment drive. To give Simmo his due, he did have an eye for a player and Burrow was certainly one who gave everything he had for the red and white.

At Stevenage he had been rated as a good prospect, boasted a decent game to goals return and there was perhaps a little bit of surprise when we managed to bag him. He scored ten times in 29 starts, but made 40 appearances in total so averaged a goal every four games. When you put it like that, he wasn’t prolific, but his all-round centre forward play was certainly suitable for the National League. He scored the goal that put us 3-0 up against Forest Green in a match we went on to draw 3-3 that ultimately cost Gary Simpson his job.

He found himself a first team regular by the end of the season after scoring a brace against Nuneaton and again against Braintree to give us 3-1 wins. Upon completion of his contract the decision made not to retain his services and he followed Hamza Bencherif to ambitious Halifax Town where he managed 14 goals, before turning up at Gateshead, scoring against us in the FA Trophy in January 2017.
