No Thank You: Matthew Pearson

You’re probably wondering what on earth the in-form Luton Town defender has to do with us, right? He made his name at Accrington Stanley, playing 89 League Two games for them and impressing hugely. He later moved to Barnsley where he made 17 appearances in the Championship, but is now helping the Hatters to a League One promotion assault. He’s a good player and at 25, has plenty left in the tank.

Surely, you remember him coming here on loan then? No?

Of course you don’t, his loan here was a disaster. He made two outings, both against Carshalton which is perhaps the lowest point many believe we sank to, losing 3-1 there in the FA Trophy. Blackburn immediately recalled him from his two month youth loan, but he later wound up at Stanley after a permanent spell in the National League with Halifax. Cheers Stanley, you allowed him to show his potential whereas we just threw him to the wolves in the carnage of Carshalton.

  1. Apologies to disagree but Green had a great opportunity to score late on in the game AS were winning dribbled his way through 4 defenders before fluffing his shot near the penalty spot.
