Tom Pett

I’ve championed Pett for a while, but during the latter parts of last season I began to wonder if I’d backed the wrong horse. He came on a handful of times but didn’t seem to be as exciting or influential as I’d believed he would be. I missed his equaliser against Yeovil by virtue of my back operation, but it signalled the start of his rise to prominence.
This season he’s been one of the star players, voted September’s Player of the Month in the PFA awards and earning himself a starting place. He’s played facing the play and driving from deep, he’s played with his back to the forwards looking to turn and make things happen. He’s bagged goals, created a couple and integrated himself perfectly with the method.
He’s had 12 starts, three form the bench in the league and that is a real testament to his rise, given we have O’Connor, Frecklington and Chapman all in the mix too. Not bad for a player who came to the club billed as a winger.
Best Moment
He’s bagged a couple of goals, but the performance that stands out for me was the Notts County win. He was incredible that afternoon and it set him up for a September that brought the accolades.
He was excellent against MK Dons too, as well as away at Macclesfield.
Can’t differ from those Gary. Good assessments!
Rhead is one “L” of a player. He is Lazy. He is Limited. He is Loutish, and should have been sent off at Wembley for that cynical challenge on Shrewsbury’s keeper. He is Laughable, constantly falling over in an attempt to con the referee. As for Legend – nowhere near.
Harsh.
8 for Pett is harsh for me mate! I was surprised he stayed but he’s now my favourite!
