Ryan Oné – Eberechi Eze (Arsenal) 73.83%
I remember Eze playing for Wycombe in 2017/18. Thankfully, he didn’t play against us, but on the highlights show he leapt out of the mundane. QPR impressed me with their youth players, as Ilias Chair did the same the following season, if I recall correctly, and I always thought they must produce exciting young players.
Eze isn’t young anymore, but he is exciting. Oné is young, and I think he is exciting. His goal within six minutes of coming on might have been a late breakaway, but I think we’re going to see him have a big say in whether or not City make it to the Championship.
Erik Ring – Randal Kolo Muani (Spurs) 77.33%
I fear we may not get to see the best of Erik. Taking up an ESC slot, he’s not quite landed here. He’s got the talent, and when he’s good, he’s really good, but I do wonder if he’s ever really settled and been fit enough to impose his talent on the English game.
Muani has settled at Spurs in his first season in England, but they’re relegation-haunted, and as it’s a loan, he too might be back on the continent next season. Could that make two? I hope not.
James Collins – Erling Haaland (Man City) 86.31%
I might not have heard of many of these players, but Haaland I’ve heard of, obviously. I know he scores goals, he’s a fox in the box and is always relied upon to bag, just like James Collins. Of course, Collins is injured now, but he scores wherever he plays, and that’s the similarity with Haaland right there.
The stats model does go deeper, looking at player pizzas (honestly, that’s a thing) and seeing the patterns, so there is much more than just goals to this comparison, but at the end of the day, what more is there in football?
