Lincoln City Transfer Boost As League Leaders Drop Star

Lincoln City’s chances of landing Deji Elerewe took a huge boost today, as the former Charlton man was left out of the Bromley squad to face Swindon Town.

Andy Woodman’s table toppers hosted fellow promotion hopefuls Swindon Town without their exciting young centre back, amid growing talk that he is poised to join the Imps. As discussed widely yesterday, the 6ft 5in defender is seemingly on the cusp of a six-figure move to a League One side, with reputable journalist Richard Cawley suggesting that team was Lincoln City.

Today, Pete O’Rouke jumped on the bandwagon, suggesting a deal was done, so all eyes turned to the Copperjax Community Stadium, where the Ravens hosted Ian Holloway’s side. The teamsheet did not include Elerewe’s name, suggesting the smoke is well and truly coming from a fire.

It didn’t knock Bromley off their stride. With former City keeper Grant Smith in the stick, and another former Imp in Sam Long on the bench, they pulled a 2-1 victory out of the bag in the last minute through Nicke Kabamba, a player I remember hoping we’d sign back in 2017.

The result sees them sitting six points clear of Salford Town, albeit having played a game more, but also leaves them eight points clear of fourth-placed Cambridge United. Their title push is certainly looking like it will last the distance, but they might have to do it with Elerewe.

The towering centre back is now seemingly set for a move, with us touted as the likely destination. Given the intense speculation, we’re going to have a deep dive into his stats, and see if he really is the right fit for Lincoln City, and where he might fit, should a deal go ahead.

That sounds like a job for Statman Chris, and hopefully, we can drop that tomorrow.
