Andy Graver – Subbuteo – 1954
The Famous Footballers series from 1954 was distributed by PA Adolph, and came with Subbuteo accessories. You must remember, the first Subbuteo sets only went into production in 1946, so it was a relatively new game, making this a key marketing strategy as they fought for market share. It’s also reflective of the Imps’ standing at the time – there were just 48 cards in total, from 92 Football league clubs. Len Shackleton, Nat Lofthouse and Bedford Jezzard also featured.
