Bolton Wanderers loan Joel Randall to Blackpool

Bolton Wanderers have loaned Joel Randall to Blackpool for the remainder of the season, with The Bolton News reporting Wanderers are open to a permanent move in the summer if the deal works out.

Randall’s departure comes only a year after Bolton paid around £1.2m to bring him in from Peterborough United, but his time at the Toughsheet Stadium never truly caught fire. He found himself on the fringes as the season progressed, and his output, two goals and three assists from 21 starts and 18 substitute appearances, did not shift the narrative.

Steven Schumacher suggested competition for places has been decisive, with Bolton well stocked in the areas Randall would naturally occupy. With Kyle Dempsey and John McAtee involved more recently, Randall has slipped out of the picture, and this move offers him a chance to reset with regular football.

For Bolton, it is also a practical decision in January, it trims the squad, creates flexibility, and keeps future options open depending on how Randall performs at Bloomfield Road.
