Joe Taylor is on the move, but he won’t be joining the Imps.
The player our fans loved during his short spell here, who later cost Huddersfield Town £3m, has fallen out of favour with the Terriers. They’re looking to offload him after a disappointing spell, and there is a taker in our division – Wigan Athletic, as revealed by Football League World.
Huddersfield are in the top six, but that’s not deemed as enough, and as usual, they’re undergoing yet another rebuild, with plenty of ins and outs this winter.
Ben Wiles is departing for MK Dons, while versatile Plymouth Argyle wide player Bali Mumba is now expected to complete an imminent move in a deal reported to be worth around £1 million for Grant’s side. Jak Alnwick and Cameron Humphreys have arrived, while the loan spells of Leo Castledine, Owen Goodman and Zepiqueno Redmond have all been cut short. Now it appears Taylor is also on the move.

Taylor To Wigan?
FLW has reported that any deal under discussion is currently framed as a temporary move, with no suggestion at this stage that a permanent option would form part of the agreement. That position is not set in stone, particularly given Taylor’s difficult spell at the John Smith’s Stadium since completing his long-anticipated switch from Luton Town last January.
Since arriving, the 23-year-old has found consistency hard to come by. He struggled for momentum during the latter part of last season and has again drifted in and out of the starting XI this term, a situation that reflects both form and competition for places. Against City, he was asked to warm up before the game, despite not being in the squad.

Despite the uncertainty, Huddersfield are under no immediate contractual pressure. Taylor still has three years remaining on the four-year deal he signed when he made the move from Luton, giving the club flexibility as they assess their next steps. However, his value will continue to drop, and given the money they spent on him, they may be looking for a route out of the move.
Taylor won Player of the Month while appearing for the Imps, scoring ten goals in 19 outings. He had a slow start, hitting two goals in nine appearances, before smashing six in just three outings. He has six league goals in 34 outings for Huddersfield, as well as three in the EFL Trophy, including one, somewhat inevitably, against us.
