One Time Lincoln City Loanee Linked With Move To Champions League Hopefuls

We’ve had some pretty decent players through the doors at the Bank in recent seasons.

Brennan Johnson and Morgan Rogers jump out, while Morgan Whittaker has done well since his spell with us.

One player who went under the radar a bit was Brooke Norton-Cuffy, who joined from Arsenal in the winter window of 2022 and impressed during his time here. He went back to Arsenal and had spells with Coventry and Millwall, but more recently, he’s been impressing in Serie A.

He’s with Genoa, but has caught the eye of teams such as Napoli, Inter and Juventus. They’ve all been linked with a move for the right back, but now he’s also being suggested as a target for a Premier League outfit.

Everton will be targeting a Champions League spot this season. They’re currently 12th, but only six points outside the top four, which means they have everything to play for. Now, they’re being linked with a move for Nort0n-Cuffy, who is valued at around £16m by Transfermrkt.

He’s had a cracking season for Il Grifone, who are 17th in the Italian top flight. Relegation is a serious worry, but as one of their top players, Norton-Cuffy is unlikely to drop into Serie B with them. He’s played 1757 minutes for them this season, bagging a goal and an assist, but with plenty of dribbles, crosses and shot assists. He’s hot property and, would you believe, still only 21.

He joined City in January 2022, making his debut against Plymouth Argyle shortly after. At the time, it felt like a TJ Eyoma loan, one aimed at him being around the squad, but not making an impact. That soon changed. A strong and dynamic right-back, he quickly impressed supporters with his energy down the flank and netted his first senior goal against Sheffield Wednesday in March 2022. One run against Wycombe had fans up and off their seats, something we didn’t get to do a lot in the post 2020/21, pre-Skubala era.

He didn’t stick around at the end of the season; in fairness, it was never likely, but he has gone on to become sought after in Europe and the Premier League. Where he moves this season is still up for debate, but one thing is almost certain – he will be playing for a bigger club come the start of the 206/27 season.
