I had no intention of looking in Asia, as I’m sure any scouting we do is confined to Europe, but Yotaro Nakajima jumped out in several areas. He is a deep-lying midfielder whose game is built around spatial awareness, tempo control and passing technique. Comfortable operating in a double pivot or slightly higher between the lines, he reportedly finds intelligent positions in build-up and transition, often arriving early rather than reacting late.
He’s 19 and has three goals from eight matches in the AFC Cup, Culturally, of course, there would be an issue, and I can’t see Clive signing off on flights to Japan every weekend for Jez, but this is a name that you might want to bookmark, even if not from a Lincoln City perspective.
