Five Free Agents Who Could Do a Job At Lincoln City

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Dreaming? Maybe, but his name was on a list circulated by the PFA as looking for a club, and that went up to Scotland, so you just never know.

He’s 27 now, but can play right back, central defence or at the base of the midfield.  Now, he has done his cruciate a couple of times, but his pedigree cannot be faulted.

He came through the Ajax system before moving to Manchester United in 2014, progressing from the academy into senior football by early 2016. Fosu-Mensah gained Premier League experience through loans with Crystal Palace in August 2017 and Fulham in August 2018, suffering his first ACL injury with the latter.

After returning to Old Trafford in 2019, he added further appearances in domestic and European competitions before completing a permanent move to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2021, doing his ACL for a second time. The rest of his time in Germany included league and European action, although injuries limited his involvement and he left the club in 2024.

He’s been a free agent since, but is thought to be close to a Sheffield Wednesday move.
