I’m a little baffled why the 20-year-old hasn’t been snapped up, if I’m honest. He is an attacking midfielder who can also play on the left wing, progressing through two elite academies before breaking into senior football with Grimsby Town.
He joined Manchester City as a young child and developed through their system until the summer of 2022, when he signed his first professional contract. After helping City’s under-18s to the league title in the 2021–22 season, he moved to Brighton and Hove Albion in August 2022, where he continued his development and trained with the first team during the 2023–24 campaign.
Barrington stepped closer to regular senior football with a loan to Grimsby Town in August 2024, making more than 30 appearances in League Two with five goal involvements. He seems to scream potential, especially for a club like us who could bring him in and loan him out to get minutes.
If ever there was a project player….
