Peterborough United hold talks as Luke Williams remains the preferred candidate

Peterborough United continue their search for a new head coach, with Luke Williams remaining the preferred option following the exit of Darren Ferguson.

Club sources indicate discussions are ongoing, with chairman Darragh MacAnthony conducting back-to-back calls as Posh work through their shortlist. Academy coach Ryan Semple has overseen training in the interim, providing continuity while the hierarchy finalises their decision.

Williams, formerly of Notts County and Swansea City, is regarded for progressive, possession-based football and player development, attributes that align with Posh’s recruitment model and attacking emphasis.

With an FA Cup tie looming before a return to league action, the club is keen to provide clarity and give the incoming manager time on the grass. The priority is a smooth transition that preserves squad confidence and sets the platform for consistency through the winter schedule.
