Nathan Lowe nets again as Stockport go top with emphatic win at Port Vale
On-loan Stoke City forward Nathan Lowe scored his sixth of the season as Stockport County surged to the League One summit with a commanding three-nil victory at Port Vale. Starting for the third straight game, Lowe headed in a Tyler Onyango cross on thirteen minutes before Kyle Wootton and Jack Diamond struck to put the contest out of reach inside half an hour.
Lowe was later booked after an off-the-ball incident in which he appeared to have deliberately elbowed Marvin Johnson, but later clipped the post before leaving to warm applause on the hour.
Boss Dave Challinor praised the clinical spell that settled the game after a slow opening. Stockport sit on 28 points from fourteen fixtures, maintaining a two-points-per-game pace as attention briefly turns to the FA Cup.
“Once we got that first goal it gave us momentum and for a spell of about half an hour I thought we were excellent. We caused them real problems and were really clinical with the opportunities we created.”
