Lee Grant Laments Second-Half Drop As Bolton Stun Huddersfield Late

Huddersfield Town slipped to a painful 2-1 defeat against Bolton Wanderers after conceding in the 93rd and 95th minutes, undoing Leo Castledine’s first-half header. Manager Lee Grant accepted that his side contributed to the turnaround with a below-par second half that yielded just one shot, a stark contrast to a composed opening period. He emphasised the need to stick to core values under pressure and to analyse the collapse immediately.

“There will be a sense for all of us that the second-half performance leads to where we end up in the game,” Grant said, noting the group’s desire may have clouded judgment after the break.

He added, “Very quickly we have to be in, we have to look at it, we have to really be honest about why we end up in a 93 and 95, two situations that we shouldn’t be in, and we have to make sure we put that right.”

The result leaves Town eighth on 19 points from 12 matches, with Bolton leapfrogging them into seventh on 20 from 13.

Huddersfield started strongly this season but have gathered seven points from their last seven, and the priority now is a response at Wycombe Wanderers as Grant pushes for greater resilience when games become chaotic late on.
