FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round Summary

The Imps will be ball number 27 in the FA Cup draw on Monday evening, and they’ll be joined by a host of familiar names.

The draw will take place before Worthing hosts Forest Green, one of the final ties yet to be decided. Joining the Imps in the bag will be local rivals Scunthorpe United, Gainsborough Trinity and Grimsby Town, but Boston United, Spalding United and Stamford Town all bowed out early.

FA Cup Fourth Round Qualifying – Saturday Results Overview

It was a busy afternoon across the country as non-league clubs battled for a place in the First Round Proper. Several teams secured their progress with convincing victories, while others will have to do it all again in midweek after draws.

Gateshead, Braintree Town, Carlisle United, Chelmsford City, AFC Telford United, Aldershot Town, Boreham Wood, Ebbsfleet United, Eastleigh, Hemel Hempstead Town, Macclesfield, Maldon & Tiptree, York City, Buxton, Scunthorpe United, Slough Town, South Shields, Southend United, Halifax Town, Spennymoor Town, Tamworth, Chatham Town, Wealdstone, and Weston-super-Mare all advanced to the next round.

Highlights included Carlisle United’s 5-2 win over Boston United, during which former Imps Lenny John-Lewis bagged a goal for the losing side. Jamie Pardington made his debut for in a 6-0 rout for AFC Telford United at Darlington, but he’ll now be cup-tied. He was joined on the field by a former Imp, Jordan Cranston, now part of the Bucks’ set up. Spennymoor beat Billericay in their tie, with another Imp, Bola Okewoye, an unused sub. Bola was also an unused sub in the third qualifying round against Hednesford Town.

Chelmsford City edged out Chippenham Town 4-3 in a thrilling contest, meaning we won’t have to go back to the scene of our embarrassing 2022 result. Local rivals Scunthorpe United came through 4-2 against King’s Lynn Town, meaning we could feasibly get a short trip up the A15 to the National League side.

Drawn Ties (To Be Replayed)

There are a number of ties to be replayed. The obvious highlight is Hartlepool and Gainsborough, meaning there is still a chance of a game against the Holy Blues, as in 1997/98, and we could still feasibly get Truro City, which would be a long haul, but a fun weekend away in Cornwall.
