Blackpool Condemn Racist Abuse
Blackpool have expressed their anger after winger CJ Hamilton received racist abuse online following his two-goal display in the 2-2 draw with Luton Town.
The 30-year-old, one of the club’s longest-serving players, was subjected to a vile message on social media. Blackpool said they were “appalled” by the incident and have passed details to the police, while also pledging full support for Hamilton.
“Sadly, this is just the latest incident where one of our players has been on the receiving end of vile, racist abuse which has been directly sent to them on social media,” it said in a statement, external.
“The club once again calls on social media companies to do more to combat online hate and abuse, and be proactive in finding methods to stop this kind of behaviour taking place on their very own platforms.
“The club stands firmly with CJ, one of our longest-serving players, and will support him in any way we can.”
Blackpool vowed to “take the strongest possible action” against the perpetrator once identified.
Hamilton bagged a brace as the Seasiders were held at home, piling pressure on Steve Bruce.
