Blackpool dealt Ennis setback but Bowler boost

Blackpool’s momentum has taken a hit with Niall Ennis ruled out for roughly eight to ten weeks after a severe calf injury sustained at Bradford. The striker had started the season sharply after making his move permanent and leaves a sizeable hole at the top of the pitch.

There is better news on Josh Bowler, who suffered only a knock and is available for the upcoming tests against Luton Town and AFC Wimbledon.

Steve Bruce says the squad depth will be stretched, but Blackpool will back their structure and home form to absorb the loss while Ennis recovers.

“It’s not good for Niall, he’s going to miss probably eight to 10 weeks at a minimum,” said Bruce. “It’s a really bad calf injury unfortunately. It’s part and parcel of football unfortunately, we seem to get injuries in games. It is what it is, we’ve got to put up with it, we’ve got a strong enough squad. Just when we got a bit of momentum going, we’ve lost two or three of our best players.
