Yeovil Town are set to name former Lincoln City striker Danny Webb as their new manager.
The appointment sees him replace an old favourite of ours, Mark Cooper, who was sacked last week.
Webb’s Lincoln City Connection
Webb arrived at Sincil Bank in early 2003, a young forward who had come through Southampton before a permanent switch to Hull City. Keith Alexander, in his ongoing search for the right attacking blend, brought the striker in on loan to sharpen a side pushing hard at the top end of the division.
His spell with the Imps was short, yet he did leave a mark. Webb scored in a 2–1 win against Bristol Rovers in March, a contribution that helped City along the road to the play-offs. That proved to be his only goal in red and white before he returned to Hull and later moved around the lower leagues.

For the record, it was more than some of the other short-term striking experiments delivered at the time, and Keith was disappointed when he left.
“We’ve had four forwards in on loan this season and none of them have quite done the job I wanted them to,” said Keith.
“Although I would like to have kept Daniel until the end of the season he wanted to go back to Hull. I’m disappointed with his decision as I think it’s the wrong one but if the lad doesn’t want to stay he doesn’t want to stay.”
The Manager Webb Becomes
Now 42, Webb has built a coaching résumé that includes Leyton Orient, Watford’s youth set-up and, since 2021, a key assistant role at Chesterfield, where he also took interim charge for a short spell in 2022. His Yeovil move comes after Mark Cooper’s dismissal in late August, with the Glovers currently seeking stability after a mixed start to the National League campaign.

There is family history in Somerset, too. Webb’s father, David, managed Yeovil in 2000 and later became the club’s owner and executive chairman in 2005. The ambitious Glovers, once of the Championship, are currently 18th in the National League, level on points with Boston United.
Our paths haven’t crossed since the 2018/19 season, when a Mark O’Hara goal gave us a 1-0 win at home, and a Danny Rowe brace secured a 2-0 win away. We haven’t lost to the Glovers in over 20 years – an Efe Sodje brace and Phil Jevons penalty giving them a final day 3-0 win in May, 2005.
