Zack Elbouzedi

Europa Conference League (2022)

Zack Elbouzedi featured in the Europa Conference League with Swedish club AIK Solna during the 2022 qualifying rounds. He played four times, starting twice against Ukrainian outfit Vorskla Poltava, and North Macedonian side Shkendija. The winger had joined AIK after his time with Lincoln City, where he made just over 20 appearances in all competitions.

At Sincil Bank, Elbouzedi was mostly used as an impact substitute during the 2020–21 campaign. His raw pace and direct running showed flashes of promise, but he struggled for consistency. After leaving England, his move to Sweden offered a fresh start and European football, although he is now back in Ireland with St Patrick’s.

Paul Wanless

Intertoto Cup (2007/08)

Paul Wanless played in the 2007/08 Intertoto Cup with Llanelli, featuring in their tie against Swedish club Gefle IF. The Welsh side exited the competition over two legs, but the campaign marked an impressive achievement for a player nearing the end of his career. Wanless brought leadership and stability to Llanelli’s midfield during their brief foray into Europe.

Earlier, he had a short loan spell at Lincoln City during the 1994/95 season, coming from Oxford United. Though his Imps tenure was fleeting, his later continental involvement places him among the small number of former City players to have competed in UEFA-sanctioned competitions.

Scott Kerr

Intertoto Cup (2000)

Scott Kerr’s brush with European football came under unusual circumstances. In the summer of 2000, while an emerging youth at Bradford City, he played in their Intertoto Cup match against Lithuanian side Atlantas. The game ended 3–1 in Bradford’s favour, with Kerr playing a supporting role.

Although not a City player at the time, Kerr later became a central figure at Sincil Bank, making almost 250 appearances across five seasons. He was known for his energy and commitment in midfield, often leading by example. His brief European cameo may not have made headlines, but it offered a unique prelude to a dependable domestic career that endeared him to Lincoln fans.
