Former Lincoln City Keeper Released By Current Club

Scottish goalkeeper Archie Mair, who spent a brief loan spell at the Imps in 2021, will leave Norwich City at the end of the current season following the expiry of his contract.

Mair is one of five players departing Carrow Road this summer, alongside first-team regulars Angus Gunn, Onel Hernández, and Jacob Sørensen. The Turriff-born keeper has been on the books at Norwich since 2019 after beginning his youth career at Aberdeen.

During his time at Norwich, Mair had a series of loan spells across the English football pyramid and the Scottish Premiership. After early stints at King’s Lynn Town and at the Bank, he was recalled in January 2022 and went on to feature for Dartford, Notts County, Gateshead, Morecambe, and, most recently, Motherwell.

Supporters spotted Mair’s loan to City after his inclusion in the EFL squad list in September 2021. At the time, he was 20 years old, highly rated by Norwich, and had recently signed a contract extension through to 2024. Though he made no league appearances for the Imps, the move was part of a larger development strategy for the Scotland U21 international, who gained valuable experience during multiple loan stints.

One of the standout moments of Mair’s career came during the 2023 National League play-off final, when he was brought on as a late substitute for Notts County specifically for the penalty shootout. Mair delivered under pressure, saving two spot-kicks to help County secure promotion back to the EFL, earning praise from both teammates and manager Luke Williams.

In 2025, Mair joined Motherwell on loan, where he continues to play until the end of the current season. Now 24, the 6ft 6in stopper has played just twice for The Steelmen.
