DF: Janos Kovacs – Hungary

Ah, big Janos. They were interesting times, and the Hungarian defender had big boots to fill, coming in after the likes of McAuley, McCombe, Futcher and Paul Morgan. He joined after turning down a deal at Chesterfield due to them signing another ex-Imp, Kevin Austin.
He had a solid season in 2008/09. Although it wasn’t great by Imps standards, he still impressed. He had a two-year deal, but his second season was tough. He bagged on the opening day to beat Barnet, but Chris Sutton eventually allowed him to leave for Luton. Of course, after joining Luton, he excelled, appearing in the 2011/12 Blue Square Premier team of the season.
