Shaun Byrne
We have secured the signature of midfielder Shaun Byrne on loan from Dundee until the end of the season.
Shaun will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s match versus Greenock Morton.

28-year-old midfielder Shaun Byrne was linked with us courtesy of The Courier in December 2021, and he didn’t immediately fit the profile of the player we needed or usually went for. It was suggested as his contract wound down we might swoop and take him on the cheap, but nothing more came of it, despite Liam Bridcutt’s injury at the time.
Byrne didn’t move on; instead, he played as Dundee were relegated. Last season he was a bit-part player as they pipped Ayr to promotion, but was deemed surplus to requirements thereafter. He was loaned to Raith Rovers this summer, where he lines up against Elicha Ahui’s Ayr United once more.

Mickel Miller was linked with us by The Star, but was also a target for Portsmouth, Plymouth, Fleetwood and Burton Albion. He had been promoted with Rotherham but also struggled with his fitness playing in the wing-back role.
He did sign for one of the chasing clubs, namely Plymouth, but has struggled with fitness since. He played a handful of times for Plymouth as they won the league last season, his final game coming as we beat them 2-0 at Home Park. This season, he’s come off the bench four times in the Championship, starting the League Cup tie against Crystal Palace.
