Five Things We Hope Mark Kennedy Can Change

Talk Up The Fans

After we lost to Accrington, I remember Michael giving his interview, and he was smashing the team to bits (rightly so). He praised the fans, saying ‘at least they were good today, at least an eight out of ten‘. I know that wasn’t intended as a slur, but I feel a manager has got to be more fanciful with the truth. When we went to Shrewsbury, my thoughts were we were a five out of ten, at best, but by getting in the car and going away, you should immediately be a ten out of ten.

I know the Accrington moment was a one-off, and I know Michael did try to build up the fans, but it’s one aspect of the interviews, pre and post match, where you want to hear some hyperbole, some outlandish statements about being the best in the league. It plays into the connection we’ve just spoke about as well.
