Jack Mulhall xG Award – Anthony Scully

I’ve been looking forward to this one – it’s the Jack Mulhall Award for xG. We’ve worked this out by taking a player’s goal tally from the season and subtracting their xG. The higher the number that remains, the more clinical they were in front of goal. A player outperforming his xG significantly scored more goals than the stats believed he should. Three players had a total more than a single goal – Tayo Edun was third and Lewis Montsma a close second. The winner though, who up until the cut off point (Wimbledon) has three goals more than his xG suggested he should, is Anthony Scully. We’ll be sending a trophy, and an explanation, to Anthony over the coming days!
