Do we make enough changes? The substitution is a key weapon in a manager’s armoury but it seems some bosses are far more reticent with their changes than others. The league average is 90 changes over the course of the season, but where do we sit against that?
We’re in the five teams who make the fewest changes, and we’re not in great company. Portsmouth are chasing promotion and they’re the only side who make fewer changes than us who are above us in the table, with 76 changes this season. Tranmere have also only made 76, Accrington have made 77 and Bolton 78. Then it’s us, having made 81 changes through the season.
The team who tinker the most during matches are Oxford, with 104, followed by Burton and Rotherham on 102, all teams above us in the table and two of whom are fighting for promotion.
