I widely expected to see a couple of defenders here. Without drilling down into forward passes etc, it was always likely that our side to side approach would see the central defenders coming out on top; after all it’s easier to ping a five yard pas to a teammate than a fifty yard ball forward to feet.

Aaron Lewis comes up well in the accuracy stakes, but only in three matches, hence including the six in the top list. With the second list, Michael O’Connor just missed out which is worth mentioning, as it is him and Joe Morrell I hoped to see in the top five. Why? Because I feel those two, laying deeper in the side, are key players and if they keep on performing we’ll have a chance of creating something.

Maybe it’s disappointing that some of the big name players, Grant and Payne, have not troubled the top six. They do have a harder job to do, passing forward and creating, but surely the same can be said for Joe Morrell. If anything, these stats merely highlight what a big player the Bristol City loanee has been for us.

  1. Pass rate … Mist of Jason Shackells’ passes are to his fellow centre back, so would be interesting to see results if they were taken out?
