Isaac Buckley-Ricketts
Following on nicely, Isaac Buckley-Ricketts is still without a club. Quite how much we’d want to sign him is another question; he didn’t impress on trial at Carlisle and was released by Peterborough after spending time on the transfer list there all summer. They wanted a fee for him but, when a sale didn’t come, they just let him go. Sure, we could sign him but again he isn’t a striker as much as a winger.
The truth is bringing in a young, hungry striker at this moment in time is just not going to happen, so it might be a case of adding some legs on a permanent basis and shuffling the pack. Would Buckley-Ricketts be a good choice?
He spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Oxford; it’s the year after MA left but maybe he heard good things about him and believes he can work with him on the training ground? The key to our success, like it or not, is going to be polishing turds, so to speak. We’re not going to buy diamonds and put them in our team, the value will be uncovered by working hard on the training pitch, our manager’s forte.
