Max Melbourne

I dare wager that Max Melbourne will be involved this evening, it’s almost a given. The defender is capable of playing at centre half and if we’re honest, that’s where we’re lacking in pace at the moment. With Bozzy out it’s left to Shacks and Bolger to marshall the defence and yet I sense of all areas Michael Appleton is concerned about, central defence is it.
Look at the evidence; he questions the age of the squad, knowing that our central midfield pair are both in their early twenties, that the four attacking players were 25 or under at the weekend and that our left back is still young too. That’s surely indicating that he wants a younger player to play at the back.
We don’t have options there, not unless Max Melbourne seizes the chance he’s sure to get. The West Brom connection is strong here too, so much does depend on whether Michael Appleton actually rated him for the Baggies. I can’t see why he wouldn’t and this could be the starting point for that revolution I spoke of yesterday.
Just hope changes are made the centre of defence is not strong and lacks class and leadership defence plays to deep forwards not on good form and a shake up is needed. Keep the faith trust in Appleton and we will see this season out successfully although new players are needed with others to leave
