5 former generals Michael Appleton could target at Lincoln in the next 12 months

Thorne is on loan at Oxford from Derby, but that’s not where the connection comes from; he played under Appleton at Portsmouth on loan from West Brom. He’d worked with our new manager at the Hawthorns before he took over at Fratton Park.

He’s played lots of Championship football and some in the top flight, but is out of contract at Derby this season and hasn’t been impressing on his current loan spell. He’s a holding midfield and at 26-years-old has passed beyond ‘promising talent’ and into the realms of ‘needs to prove his worth’.

So, is it possible? Who knows, but the situation with our squad is such that we don’t have holding midfielders for next season and if Thorne does become free in the summer, there’s every chance he’ll be on our gaffer’s radar.

  1. Hylton also got an 8 match ban in 2012 that definitely puts him in the never gonna cheer him bracket, as well as putting us down with glee
