Chris Maguire
This is a big leap to be honest, but who knows. Maguire is with Sunderland at the moment and is a key player for them; he plays anywhere in the bank of three behind a main striker in their (our) 4-2-3-1 formation. He can play the ten as well and is versatile and experienced.
Why do I think he’d be available for us? Well, until the summer, he wouldn’t. He’s a key player for Jack Ross and we wouldn’t be able to afford him, However, he’s out of contract in the summer and if they go up, he’s not likely to feature in the Championship for them. That might make him a free agent and his experience in our front line would be great, especially if (as expected) we’ve not gone up or down.
Would he sign for the club? He spoke of his strong relationship with Appleton before he left Oxford, but Pep Clotet replaced our new manager and a deal fell through.
Maguire would certainly add value to our front line in the third tier, when he’s firing he’s a top player at this level.
Hylton also got an 8 match ban in 2012 that definitely puts him in the never gonna cheer him bracket, as well as putting us down with glee
