No Thanks: Peter Bore

Bore was Grimsby born and Grimsby bred, coming through their youth ranks in 2006 to make over 150 appearances for them.
After a short spell at Harrogate Town and a loan at York City, he arrived on our doorstep. His Football League pedigree had me excited, surely he’d be superb for us. After all, we were non league and he had played for the Cods, albeit in their relegated side.
He made his debut in a 3-3 draw with Braintree and went on to represent the Imps 19 times. He scored twice against Tamworth (4-0) and Ebbsfleet (3-2) but eventually he began to suffer injury problems.
The following season his chances were even more limited and his last outing was at Walsall as we ran out 3-2 winners in the FA Cup. He signed for Gateshead before dropping further down into the non-league scene.
The truth of the matter is he was poor for us, never reaching the heights we’d expect of a former Football League player. Still only 31, he was last seen playing for Cleethorpes Town. The real Cleethorpes Town, not the pretend ones we face on Saturday.
