Nathan Blissett: 1 (2) Apps 0 Goals
Courtesy of Graham BurrellNathan Blissett is nephew of former England international Luther, he signed for the Imps the same day that Liam Hearn decided he wanted some time at Barrow. He was never meant to replace Hearn, but the timing of the Grimsby-it is meant he had a lot of pressure on his shoulders, pressure he couldn’t live up to.
He had previously be at Romulus where he’d done very well, Kidderminster where he’d scored 10 in 59 matches, and Bristol Rovers where the goals dried up. He never looked at ease in a Lincoln shirt though. He had to try to play off Matt Rhead in the role vacated by Hearn, but he didn’t convince at all.
He got two draws and a defeat in his three blank outings for City, a run that convinced Chris Moyses that there was no point in chasing the player further. He later wound up at Torquay where a decent run of form saw him earn a big move to Plymouth. Three goals in 22 appearances saw that move go sour and he’s now with Macclesfield, whom he helped to National League promotion last season.
Here’s a player that even Trevor Swinburne would struggle to label as a legend pre-match!
