Finally, another 33-year old veteran of Scottish football, Gary Irvine. The question of whether we have adequate right back cover will always divide opinion and I’m sure we wouldn’t turn to a thirty-something from north of the border if we did want cover, but if we needed to he’s free and available.

Most of Irvine’s football has been played at St Johnstone, Dundee and St Mirren, where he’s enjoyed moderate success. he was part of the side that won the Scottish Championship last season, but played just 12 matches in total.

He’s won the Scottish Challenge cup twice, once with Ross County and again with St Johnstone, as well as lifting the Championship title with Dundee in 2014. 

He’s a right back, he’s free and available but as long as Neal Eardley gets back to fitness, we shouldn’t need to pick up the phone.
