My Favoured Starting XI for Exeter City

GK: Grant Smith

Only one shout in goal for me, Grant Smith. I’ve interviewed him recently for the club programme, you can read it on Tuesday, but so far I don’t think he’s put a foot wrong.

He’s got a lot of pressure with Sam Slocombe coming in, but until he slips up there’s no reason to drop him.

I’m not even sure he will. He’s a former Fulham youngster and he’s grafted his way through the non-league scene to get to Lincoln City. He’s a commanding presence, he manages his area well and I can see him being number one for a fair while.

  1. Not so bullish about two of your selections as yourself Gary. Anderson may well start today but long term I think Danny is looking for players in the wide positions with good technical ability… Harry has made some progress but I’m sure that whilst he gets people off their seats with.his bull in a China shop type runs they quickly end up back on their seats because the evidence may suggest that there is little end product… Long term I suggest will see one of the Newby loaders in that position. Away to Exeter may not be the right game for Scott’s return. He will be ring rusty and although he is commanding in the air I think he is prone to mistakes on the ground. ShacKell and Boswick seem to be forming a good partnership at the back and they were dominant against County so I see them retaining their partnership.
