Former Players Association Golf Day; all the details

The excellent Lincoln City Former Players Association is holding a golf day at Belton Woods on August 27th and 28th, and I’m able to bring you exclusive details of who’ll feature and how you can get involved.

Firstly, I’m a huge fan of the FPA. The reason being I love everything Imps related and the former players are always happy to give an interview or some form of insight. It’s a brilliant initiative, originating from the Red Imps Community Trust and now managed, as were some of our defences in the late 80s, by Trevor Swinburne.

The event will feature the likes of Trevor Swinburne, Gordon Simmonite, Warren Ward, Matt Carmichael, John Kennedy, Paul Miller, Jason Barnett, Dennis Leigh, Phil Hubbard, Chris Moyses, Archie Moyses and the Stacey West reader’s all-time favourite Lincoln keeper, Alan Marriott (pictured top).

Former Imps striker Warren Ward has been chatting to me about the upcoming event and how budding golfers can get involved.

“We are looking at making this exclusive by restricting it initially to 40 players which with the anticipated dozen or more Ex Imps that are playing will leave not many more than 20 spaces. The reason for capping it is twofold as firstly we want it to be a fairly exclusive opportunity for those who take part and secondly we need to confirm numbers for hotel rooms and tee times etc”

“The event itself will involve a pairs competition along with a singles competition and hopefully on Day 2 everybody who takes part will get the opportunity to play a round on the Woods Championship course alongside at least one former Lincoln City player.”

For those who are not golfers, but would like to be involved, there’s plenty of sponsorship opportunities, as Warren explains.

“We are also currently on the lookout for businesses of any size who may be interested in doing a hole sponsorship for the event at Belton Woods on Monday 27th & Tuesday 28th August 2018. It is also an opportunity that is open to individual fans of the Imps as well, who may wish to support the FPA and also get the chance to secure a piece of limited edition memorabilia.”

“The cost is a very reasonable cost £30 for a hole on either day or for £50 you can have the same number hole on both days across the Lakes and Woods course. There will be some good publicity for you with visible promotion of your business or individual’s name on the tee box at your chosen hole number along with publicity and event coverage on our new Lincoln City FPA website.”

Business owners who like to collect memorabilia take note, this offer comes with something unique too.

“I am also looking at a special piece of signed memorabilia from the event as a thank you to hole sponsors with a special photo being done of all the Ex Imps who are playing in the competition which would then be signed by them all.”

Anyone who wants to be involved can obtain details from Warren Ward on the number and email address above.

If only I was a golfer!

Dennis Leigh will be joining Imps fans and former players at the tee, as well as the 19th hole.
