Kevin Ellison

He’s one the Imps fans love to hate, but of all the players Keith took on loan, Ellison is the one who could have thrived in Danny’s set up. In truth, had we had £100,000 kicking around 14 years ago, he would perhaps be a Lincoln legend now.
The prickly scouser wasn’t to everyone’s taste, but what he had was a refuse to lose attitude, one we saw the other side of more often than not as he scrapped and battled against us. His application though, that was second to none. Danny wants players who give 100% all the time, who only give 95% in the event of them only having 95% to give. That was Ellison to a tee.
He could get up and down the left too and up until the last couple of weeks, we’ve been short on the left. before Harry Toffolo joined we’ve only really ever had Sam, so Ellison would have been valuable as cover and competition to. He was also versatile, as comfortable on the wing as he was at the back. Danny loves a player on the flank who can get up and down the line, adding as much value on the attack as he could at the back.
Hearing me talk enthusiastically about Ellison will rankle some, but I don’t care. Even at 39 he’s still going strong, proving in no uncertain terms what an asset he could have been if Danny had him in his prime.
Hi Gary,
A good read as always, but what I wanted to day was not that, but that anyone who gives you even a word of grief for being ‘commercial’ or whatever rubbish it is they come out with, they want their little minds checking. I bet they’re the same as the rest of us – regularly checking your website hoping for a new article. They’re probably doing it on the bog at work, getting paid even as they read. Meanwhile they expect you to be entertaining them for nothing because ‘you enjoy it’ (or whatever nut-job argument it is they come up with). On behalf of the silent majority – thank you for everything and don’t let the b*ggers get you down!
How about an “If only they had signed” article? I remember wishing we could afford John Cornforth. OConnor, Ellison etc etc
I second what Dan wrote. No time to write, need to get off the bog.
