Danny and Nicky Cowley sign contract extensions until 2022

Here’s the news we’ve all been waiting for: Danny and Nicky Cowley have signed new deals at the club which will keep them here until 2022.

After weeks of bookies putting them as favourites for the Ipswich job, making me lose sleep at night worrying the ride was coming to an end, confirmation that it isn’t. It’s another great day for the club, another firm statement of intent on both their behalf and the club as a whole.

Last season sometime someone chuckled to me and said Championship was the aim, I’m beginning to wonder if that is actually the case. We’re on the cusp of the League Two play off now, they won’t be signing four-year deals if they’re not looking beyond League One. That is what this news says to me: Goal 2010 has just become a reality, a decade after it was first mentioned.

What more is there to write? It’s a great time to be a Lincoln City fan and despite the odd sleepless night thanks to irresponsible bookies we can all rest easy once again. History hasn’t repeated itself, we haven’t hit a good patch only to have the rug pulled from under us. Instead, we’re building for the future.

Today is a huge day for Lincoln City, major players signing new deals and rock solid plans being unveiled for the next step of our development. We’re a club on the up, a loud and passionate fan base getting plaudits from across the division, driven by two managers who look set to redefine what we class as our aspirations.

Kudos to Clive, Bob and everyone at the club who has been involved in making these announcements happen. I might just have a glass of something strong tonight and toast the people driving my football club to places I never thought I’d see it go again.

      • I think what happened was they signed a contract extension in early 2017 which ran until 2021, making a total period of 5 years from when they joined the club in 2016. That has now been extended by a year up to 2022.

  1. Which presumably has upgraded renumeration and termination arrangements.

These really are incredible times to be an Imp, I’m used to stuff going wrong and petering out, this is different gravy.

  2. Just to play Devils Advocate, it can also mean that we are just ensuring we get a lot more compo when a club does come in for them

      • Ha ha! To be fair I think the bigger point is moving here, that rules out the lazy Ipswich link the bookies made “they are great managers, they live near Ipswich therefore they are off there”. However the move just now means Forest, Derby, Sheffield U and W are going to be the links. Devil’s A again, maybe they have moved here to increase the range of options open to them…

They signed the deal and I am happy with that. Onwards and upwards!
