Former Imps to take part in British Heart Foundation charity match

A couple of former Lincoln City players have been confirmed as taking part in a charity match set to take place in the city next week.

The game is being organised by Imps fan Gary Burr, in memory of his father. It’s in aid of the British Heart Foundation and is set to raise awareness of the work they do as well as all-important funds.

The Pete Burr Memorial Cup is contested between a British Heart Foundation XI and the University of Lincoln Social Team.

It has now been confirmed that former Imps defender Danny Hone and striker Gavin Gordon will be taking part in the game, presumably on the side of the BHF. Their inclusion has come as part of the Former Players Association, run by another former Imp, Trevor Swinburne. The FPA has seen many ex-players come back to watch games and talk about their experiences, but the plan is also for them to help out in the community when they can.

The match takes place next Friday, 6th April at Ashby Avenue, home of Lincoln United, ensuring it is a whole-city affair supporting this fantastic cause. Kick off time is 7.15pm, if you can support in any way I’m sure it will be a wonderful evening.
