To coincide with the announcement that Lincoln City are on the shortlist for ‘Sports Team of the Year’ at the Sport’s Journalists Association awards dinner, we’ve teamed up with the Imps to offer you a copy of the DVD ‘Impossible is just an Opinion’.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently you’ll know that Lincoln City defied the pundits last season by storming to the National League title, reaching the FA Cup Quarter Finals along the way. That appearance at the Emirates was the first time a club from non-league had reached the last eight of the famous old trophy in well over 100 years, meaning the Imps became record breakers. Danny Cowley, ahead of the match against Premier League Burnley, famously said that many had told him winning was impossible, but impossible was just an opinion.
We’re now into the rough and tumble of a full Football League campaign for the first time since 2010/11, but that doesn’t mean we should ever forget the heroics of those players, management and staff. Directed by Imps fan Sam Ashoo, this DVD tells the story from innocuous beginnings away at Woking to the magnificent final home match against Macclesfield Town. It’s a feel-good journey of hard-fought victories, stunning goals and charts the development of a bond between club and fans like never before.
Seriously if you haven’t seen it, it is bloody ace. That’s my own personal opinion and not the wordy review you’ve come to expect from me.
In addition to this being THE DVD for Imps fans across the country, I’m also going to get it signed by one of the current squad or management. You’ll be able to choose which of the current players you want to ink it too. Will it be Nathan Arnold who scored that wonderfully iconic goal against Gateshead? Is Lincolnshire’s 24th most attractive person, Paul Farman, the one you want to stick his moniker on it? Maybe its club captain and all round hard-nut Luke Waterfall? Once the winner is announced I’ll work with the club to see that you get your favourite players signature on the case.
So, how can you win a copy? Well, shamelessly I’m going to use the opportunity to plug my own pet-project, A City United. It seems very apt that a DVD showcasing the rise of Lincoln’s top football club should help to develop a magazine dedicated to football at all levels in Lincoln. You’ll need to be on Twitter or Facebook to enter this social media competition I’m afraid, and it’s a generic ‘like and share’ competition.
You’ll need to:
Follow us on Twitter here or like us on Facebook here. Both accounts will then have a pinned post which you must share in order to enter the hat for the prize draw.
You don’t have to follow us on both, but if you share both posts you’ll enter into the draw TWICE.
The closing date for entries is Sunday October 15th at 5pm and we’ll announce the winner through those two channels.
Also remember the DVD is still available on Amazon here. It would make a great Christmas present for anyone buying for an Imps fan, but check they haven’t already got it first, eh?
I’ll be promoting this through the week, so please remember to enter and good luck!
