Wycombe 2 Imps 2

We’re sat on a coach waiting to leave the packed industrial area, and we’re  satisfied that an improved second half saw City take a credible point.

Josh Ginnelly lit up a tepid forty five minutes of football with an early strike after a wonderful Alex Woodyard pass. It was no less than City deserved for their second half performance, Wycombe were second best throughout after their strong furst half showing.

The change came about with City refusing to be drawn into a tit-for-tat long ball duel. In the first half we fell into the trap of trying to match our opponents, whereas we showed after that our strengths lay in a swift passing game. The exchange of passes for the second goal was the best passage of play all afternoon from either side.

Matt Green really caught the eye with a mobile and energetic display, he was a constant threat without actually creating a chance. On the other hand Akinfenwa was the complete opposite, and yet he remained Wycombe’s main threat. I was staggered at how often he wrestled our players to the ground without being punished. If Matt Rhead employed the same tactic he found himself penalised. I’m not moaning about referees already but there did seem to be an imbalance.

By the end of the game I think City were unlucky not to take all three points, we were certainly the more active side after the break. I’ve seen nothing today to make me think we’re going to struggle.

I’ll do a full write up tomorrow where I’ll talk about strip bars, outlandish bets and a solid away following from the Imps faithful.

  1. Happy with the point. Even happier that sat here in Spain on holiday, some glitch in iFollow rewarded me with a live stream of the whole game! Meanwhile, Raggs just increased his value.

  2. Totally agree ….Raggett was different class. Danny said exactly what you said in terms of changing it in second half. Surprised did not bring on Anderson for Arnold late on. I think this is good point….though I agree it felt like we could have won it. Wycombe have an established squad ….lost very few at home last year and will be there or thereabouts I think. Happy.

  3. Danny said same in terms of change for second half. Felt we could have won it. Surprised not Anderson for Arnold at the end. Wycombe good solid side who will be thereabouts I think. Raggett brilliant
