Michael Skubala hinted at a deal being close for the Imps in his post-match interview last night.
City are beginning to get players back: Tom Bayliss and Ben House are nearing fitness, while Alfie Lloyd got his first run out last night. That meant one keeper on the bench again, but Bola Okewoye and Lewis Montsma both featured, with neither expected to get on.
That means the squad does have a light feel to it, and when asked about possible new faces, Michael confirmed we may see a new face soon.
“We’re getting close,” he said when asked about incoming players. “We’re getting close to another incoming to add to what we want to do.
“We’re calm. We’re really calm because we’ve got some lads that we know are top players that are injured that are close to coming back. They will feel like new signings for the group as well.”

The Imps 2-1 victory last night was attritional, but it showed real character. After the game, Jack Moylan suggested it was the best dressing room he had ever been a part of, and that is something Michael is keen to ensure remains the case.
“Then we just want to add the right characters. I’m really conscious that we don’t unbalance the team with the wrong people or the people who are not in it for us.
“We speak to the leadership team, and they’re really conscious that we just want the right people to come through the door and help us achieve what we all want to achieve, which is keep getting the three points.”
While there is no timeline on any possible incomings, it does feel like the club is gearing up to do something. Whether that is before our huge game with Bradford City on Tuesday night is yet to be seen.
So far, City have only brought in two new faces, Alfie Lloyd and Josh Honohan, but there are ten days left in the window. We have not sold a player either, but Frankie Okoronkwo, Justin Obikwu and Dexter Lembikisa all return to their parent clubs. Lewis Montsma is expected to depart to find regular football, so a defender to cover his squad place could be on the cards.
